The Solido company was founded in 1934 by Ferdinand de Vazeilles. Solido was a progressive manufacturer that invented innovations such as the casting of light alloy models in centrifuges, a technique that is still used today.
In 1982 Solido was taken over by the also French Majorette and it would take until 1987 before Solido's first 1:18 model was released. However, Majorette also disappeared and eventually the brand name ended up at the French toy company Smoby. Solido became part of OttOmobile in 2015.
The quality of the models is good, comparable to the models of BBurago and Maisto.
